Notes
Shortly after starting classes at The Catholic University of America, I was contacted with a collaboration opportunity. Jay D. Brock, one of the students pursuing her Master's in Directing, was putting on an updated adaptation of Aristophanes' The Frogs. He approached me to write incidental music and music for the chorus of three singers. It was a fun project, and it started what would be a great working relationship with Jay.
The music I wrote for The Frogz was fairly straightforward musical theater. I met with the singers first to see what they were good at, and that seemed to be the best option. The playwright gave me the text, he and I chatted a bit about it, and then I just went to work creating the music.
