Notes

This song was commissioned by the soprano Michelle Cha while we were both students at Ohio Northern University. In return, I got a few used textbooks and free accompaniment for all of the student recitals I sang in that year. Walker’s poem is simple, elegant, and sweet - I tried to echo that in the music.
